The Bureau of Labor Statistics Released Its 2023 Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries

There were 5,283 fatal work injuries recorded in the United States in 2023, a 3.7-percent decrease from 5,486 in 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. (See chart 1 and table 1.) The fatal work injury rate was 3.5 fatalities per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers, down from 3.7 in 2022. (See chart 2.) These data are from the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI).
